LET'S MAKE AN ORCHESTRA
PLAYING DAYS FOR ADULT AMATEUR MUSICIANS

This exciting venture is open to amateur musicians from any area in Scotland.

No auditions or concert commitments - just play for pleasure!

Let's Make An Orchestra is a small, harmonious chamber ensemble of adult amateur players organised and directed by Marjorie Downward. The group meets once a month on a Saturday from 10.30am and finishes at 2.45pm to play music purely for pleasure. Players come from as far as Inverness, Nairn, Cullen, Banchory and more locally from the Hopeman and Duffus area.

The playing days offer an opportunity for adult amateur players to play music from the Baroque and Classical eras and some suitable 19th & 20th century repertoire. The ethos of the ensemble is based on the love of making music together in a friendly, harmonious, ego-free environment with no concerts.

If you would like to come along and play, booking a playing seat in advance of the playing day(s) is essential.

Repertoire will be chosen according to the overall standard of the ensemble and selected from the standard works written for small chamber orchestra.

The String Section welcomes players with a technical & sight reading ability of grade 6+
6 violins ---2 violas ---2'cellos ---1 double bass

The Wind Section welcomes players with a technical & sight reading ability of grade 7+
2 oboes ---2 French horns
